it's entirely possible. it all depends on how you define "helping to appreciate".

i've never done anything harder than skunk, but i definitely enjoyed certain music while high as it put me in the right mood for it.

contrary to what Shelly said, you don't need to understand the story behind a song to enjoy it. if her rather idiotic statement was true, then it wouldn't be possible to enjoy music that's in a language you don't understand.

and i enjoy German, Japanese and Korean bands despite not understanding the languages.

anyway, that's a little off topic.

i'd say that drugs aren't necessary to enjoy music, but it would be wrong to say that they do absolutely nothing to enhance the experience.

in the end it all boils down to the individual and their tolerance of said drugs.
