I kind of find the idea of inevitable mortality comforting; if I really am going to die, and everything I do will be forgotten, then I might as well enjoy the time that I have. At that point, death isn't really a scary be-all-end-all, it's more like a natural function that occurs as matter constantly flows through the universe, and isn't really an "ending" to anything as nothing ever truly has a "beginning".
