I always had a soft spot for GNR. I think Slash is an above average guitarist. Primarily for his great tone and I think hes pretty damn good at bend-sy blues and he really pulled out some amazing sustain with his setup. He's squeezed a lot of tunes out of a few chords and licks. He's no ground breaker, but he does well with his signature sound. The top hat, round rimmed sunglasses, long hair, and low slung guitar stance work an image that took the youth of most of the world by storm in the late 80's and he's managed to market that image to the nth degree through a couple of decades. That alone is an accomplishment worthy of his place in the books.
