It can also sets people up for disappointment. Too much anticipation/hype and we'll get something that sounds like...Tool. I like Tool, been a big fan since Undertow, but I wouldn't mind if their sound evolved more. What would Tool sound like if they released their first album today? I'm also always curious what they would sound like if they weren't so anal and "spit albums out" a bit more frequently, talking themselves less seriously. In 2015/2016, I'd probably enjoy that type of Tool album more than I will anything that sounds like a "natural progression" from their 9 year old previous album. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure I'll enjoy it as much as
10,000 Days, but let's be honest...that one was a little stale already. I'm just hoping for something fresh from these guys. They were a huge influence on a s
hitload of bands in the 90s and I hate for their new material to sound just like that.
