A stupid looking album with Britney Spears on it aka

Britney Spears: Britney
Requested by: The Batturd

Review: I have close to no experience with Britney Spears, i've only ever heard "Oops! I Did It Again" but nothing else after that. This album is her third album and it is a S/T. Honestly, going into it, I really don't know what I was expecting. Obviously, I was expecting just a typical pop album, which it is. At the same time, it's got a certain charm to it. I don't really know what that is, but if this album was requested so that you'd think i'd hate it, well it's had the opposite effect. I actually quite like it. It's nothing special, but it's not terrible either. It's an album I can find myself listening to if I just need something upbeat and fun to listen to while i'm doing something else.

Going into it, I didn't think i'd know any of the music that was on it, but a few tracks did sound familiar to me, which I assume is due to the fact that Britney Spears was no stranger to the radio. A few tracks that stuck out were I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman, Boys, and Cinderella. Other than that, the rest of the album is completely new to me. But, the rest of the tracks are pretty good. The nice thing about the album in it's entirety when it comes to the tracks is that it keeps to the 3 minute formula. I mean, the longest song on the album is 3:51, and i'm sure that's due to the song being slower than most of the others. In terms of choosing a favorite track, I don't think I have one. I was never really the biggest fan of Britney Spears, so choosing a favorite track is difficult for me. Like I said, the album isn't bad, the tracks are catchy and fun, but nothing really too special or over the top. I was also surprised to hear a cover of "I Love Rock n Roll" which honestly wasn't as bad as you'd think. She does the cover very well, and it fits into the album very nicely.

Voice wise, I don't really know if I can say her voice is good or bad, since it's got a unique charm to it. It's a voice you'd recognize a mile away, but it's not a voice you'd say falls under "great vocalist" or "terrible vocalists". However, she does know how to use her voice in a way that is at least attractive, which doesn't happen a lot with female vocalist, at least for me. On the other hand, in certain songs, her voice sounds fantastic. Especially when she gets into the long harmonies in certain songs, she really knows how long or short she should hold a note to get the point across, and it works very well. That's also why I like how short the songs are, because she's not too overwhelming or crazy, it's just straight and to the point pop. I also don't think I remember her voice getting too much different from what I remember hearing years ago, but I could be wrong. It just sounds the same as I always remember. Not boring, but nothing special, again.

Final verdict:

It's not as terrible as I was expecting. It really is a standard pop album that was very fun to listen to, but wasn't something that was too over the top or crazy good. Like I said before, i'd probably listen to it again if the mood strikes, and I may find this album on my iPod in time to come. However, I don't think i'll be checking out her other albums because I just don't have a huge love for pop music in general. I like the genre, but it's just not something I know too much about or am really too interested in. But, I am not apposed to listening to more pop music that is like this, because this one is just simple and easy to listen to, and I like that. So, nice rec, Batty, I didn't hate it as much as you thought I would. Though, i'm wondering if you sent this to me because you thought i'd like it, and if that's the case, you were right, I did like it.
