But seriously, I am open-minded to the possibility of life out there; I think it's worth keeping an ear out in space. But I still think it's a long shot. We've seen a LOT of planets out there and only one has contained life (Earth). Certainly our own existence is proof that its possible, but it's also an improbable event.
Also, see the
Drake Equation. Essentially, you're multiplying a lot of values together that are less than 1, which only serves to bring the probability closer to 0. So, possible: yes! Probable: no.
