my counter theory was based solely in semantics, and those "not full hits with the full intensity" are still, nonetheless, hits.

but if you like, we can say they are both boxers, who compete in the same weight class, and are competing for the heavyweight championship of the world. in which case they are both going to be hitting with the full intensity.
but even then you might say "but, mr booth, it's still consensual."
so then we might say that this particular couple also decides to resolve their domestic disputes using full-intensity consensual hand-to-hand combat.
