KISS is simply party music, same with bands like Van Halen. They're not supposed to have deep, thought-provoking lyrics or unusual time signatures, or anything like that. They're just straight guitar-driven (sometimes cheesy) rock. AC/DC are hardly overrated. If a band changes, they are called 'sell-outs', but if they stay the same for years, they're still bashed. Angus/Malcolm Young have written some of the best and most memorable rock riffs ever. AC/DC has released a couple mediocre albums, but the great albums definitely outweigh them. Back In Black, Highway To Hell, High Voltage, the list goes on.
About Iron Maiden, you can't say Bruce's vocals suck. You may not like his voice, but Bruce ****inson is one of the greatest singers ever.
I agree about Axl, though. He's a horrid vocalist. Guns n' Roses post-Appetite For Destruction were horrid as a whole. Slash is one of the most overrated guitarists of all time, in my opinion.
Uhm...Metallica, Slayer, and Anthrax were all around at the same time as Venom. Exodus didn't even release an album until 1985.
Slipknot actually are a pretty talented band, they just seem to make mediocre music together. Bands like Hatebreed and Chimaira are garbage, but I'd say that they're more influenced by stuff like Korn and Limp Bizkit than Slayer and Anthrax. Nu-metal is all ****, really. There are newer bands that are MAINLY influenced by 80's thrash metal, and they're all pretty good.
Bands I love to hate:
Cradle Of Filth
Every emo/nu-metal band in existance
Marilyn Manson
All the trendy mainstream rock (Nickelback, Theory Of A Deadman, Default, etc.)
