A few possible explanations:
- This was some random shit pulled from the diary of some moody-ass 13 year old.
- "Shifting" as in, shift yourself to some shit that wasn't clearly written by someone with absolutely no literary talent whatsoever.
- The purpose of this fucktardery was to ensure that the aliens would never even think of visiting earth ever again, after coming to the conclusion that there is, in fact, no intelligent life here.
