I'd never heard that before, (interesting how much that sounds like a Black Sabbath riff if you just overdrive it) and I'd agree really. Grunge is just a slightly more aggressive, perhaps dirtier version of that (Neil Young having a bad day haha).
And especially when it comes to Nirvana, in terms of structure to most of their songs, it's always just the old fashioned verse-chorus formula. There's nothing much new there, just presentation.
