Its not a new thing, it has been around since the early 80s, maybe sooner. It was a movement of sorts, then died down, and has recently been making a comeback (again, this is just from what ive witnessed being in the punk scene for over 13 years) most of the music is just as you explained, sort of a dropped down east coast hardcore knock off. Mostly nowdays its all about the crews. Plenty of kids dont drink or smoke but youll find its the ones that go around claiming sXe that seem to be apart of these crews that are in some cases worst than any gangmember, religious nut, or nazi. Minor Threat did have some good lyrics, but i wouldnt put them on a pedistal, ive seen Ian Mckay drink.
see thats the sort of feedback i was looking for, although on a whole im a bit dissapointed, i was hoping there'd be some interesting mildly appealing things about sxe id missed. but it appears otherwise ah well, atleast i have a better idea as to what its all about now.
