Title: Runaway
Artiste: Kanye West
Genre: Hip-hop
Taken from: My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, 2010
Familiarity: I've heard
Yeezus and was unexpectedly impressed by it.
Suggested by: Plainview
Expectations: Normally, hip-hop, I wouldn't be too optimistic, but given the experience I had with
Yeezus, there might just be hope here.
Nice opening on the piano, then soft synth comes in with the percussion, vocal is good and it's nice to hear he's actually singing not rapping right away. Like the melody, the chord progression. The lyric is good. Even the rap is not bad. Changes into singing halfway and follows the melody of the music. Sounds like violin or cello there too. Yeah I really like this.
Conclusion: Again West surprises me. Not totally, as I already had my preconceptions knocked sideways by that album, but this was really a great little song.
So, Love or Hate? This is a
Love.
