I don't know why Garth would even be mentioned for this...he has single handedly done more for country music than anyone else. For being a "one hit wonder" he sure has a lot of awards/records to say otherwise. I don't see why people have such a huge issue with the whole Chris Gaines thing...he explained what it was about and why he did it. He tried something new...big freaken deal.

Just a few lil clips from other sites....on why Garth doesn't deserve this

This marks the seventh time that Brooks has debuted at the #1 position on the
pop chart, more times than any other artist. His other #1 debuts include:
ROPIN' THE WIND, THE CHASE, IN PIECES, DOUBLE LIVE, THE LIMITED SERIES BOX
SET and SEVENS. Additionally, Brooks has spent more weeks (51) in the # 1 position on the sales chart than any other artist in the 90's since the
inception of sound scan.

Capitol Records shipped 5 million copies of The Chase which, at the time, was the largest initial shipment in music history.

Fresh Horses made history as the first album to have 8 out of 10 tracks on the country singles charts at the same time.

Every Rosemont Horizon (now Allstate Arena) record was broken by Garth when he sold over 140,000 concert tickets in 1997 alone.

Garth Brooks was the first artist to debut a live album at number one on two charts (The Limited Series).

Double Live is the best-selling live album of music history.

Double Live set the all-time record for first week sales 1,085,373 copies. This was also the record for any one week sales period for any genre artist in history.

Garth had the largest crowd to ever attend a concert in Central Park on August 7, 1997. It is estimated that over 1 million people showed for the live concert and 14.6 million saw it live on HBO.

Garth had 3 albums at the top of the Billboard pop charts at the same time in 1998 (Sevens, The Limied Series, and Double Live). He was the first to do this since Elton John in 1975.

Hardly one of the worst musicians in country music. You don't have to like his music, but apparently, there are a lot of people who do.
