As for the first bit, really, I can't see why the vocal minority can't just be ignored. There are kids out there for whom straight edge and the preaching is an attention thing, and the first chance they get to go at in the sack with a hottie and they'll be renouncing the faith, we all know that, so by ignoring them, denying them the attention, they'll probably eventually get bored of it and move onto the next phase they are going to go through.
It's all a part of growing up.
