It's good that you liked it. I wasn't completely sure that you would, because I do also find it drags a bit sometimes and I only really like it on occasions when I'm really in the mood for something of its like.
In the description you fairly accurately labelled it progressive black metal. I think that genre best describes its base, although I find it a bit more experimental, rock oriented, and shoegazey than typical prog black metal. Plus that emphasis on Sci-fi, as you noted.
So, I'm unsure of how best to describe the genre for this next album, but I guess the base is death metal, but it's of a thrashier death metal ilk, and has strong symphonic/electronic, atmospheric/ambient, industrial/noise and some almost jazzy/technical sort-of influence, plus some possibly lightly present sort-of black metal and power/heavy metal in its sound.
