The new record alone is better than a large portion of new records from bands I like that have put out a record this year, and honestly that has left me a little baffled at how that happened that way. I don't have what I call 'perfect musical taste' or anything, but I do feel that I know good music. Killing Joke comes along though and sort of makes me question why I listen to some of the bands that I do presently, they put out these 'career defining records' you know, but then Killing Joke puts out Pylon, almost like a slap to the face of the popular bands topping charts right now, sort of to say that these younger bands still got plenty to learn about what goes in to making a great record. I'd go as far as to say even, those bands are sub-par compared to Killing Joke, and I'd notch a lot of bands I listen to as sub-par after hearing Killing Joke.
I won't be cleaning out my music library or anything though. But these shortcomings from bands I like currently will just be a lot more noticeable.

The first time I heard them was this compilation:
Their first 4 singles, and a demo.
This is still a classic song from the 80s as well.
