Only listened to a bit of Spazz, and only
Dwarf Jester Rising which I hear is more straight-up PV and less punk than their later material, but they're pretty cool. I hear it was them and Charles Bronson who brought more traditional punks into the genre. This post from the Metal Inquisition blog gave an interesting view on the early period of powerviolence that wasn't entirely complementary of the late-nineties switchover from PV made by anti-social meth heads to political, ultra-PC punks. Too new to the genre to have a feeling one way or the other, but the post was good as a crash course in early powerviolence from a guy who claims to have been there for the 1st wave scene from day one. Has some funny and enlightening stories. The comments are equally as good.
