Some of the best albums are definitely live albums. You've got:
Swans - Public Castration is a Good Idea
Coil - And the Ambulance Died in His Arms
This Heat - Made Available: John Peel Sessions
Peter Gabriel - Plays Live
King Crimson - USA
Bob Dylan - Hard Rain
Talking Heads - The Name of This Band Is Talking Heads
Miles Davis - Dark Magus

Not all of these would be to TH's taste, but I'm trying to make the point that reviewing live albums is pretty valid.
