Title: Annabel Dream Reader
Artiste: The Wytches
Genre: Surf/Psych Rock
Familiarity: Zero

1. Digsaw: Weird feedback start then it gets going with a sort of rocky beat, semi-Arabian in tone. Either the vocal is very poor or the production is. Can't say I'm very impressed.
2. Wide at midnight: This sounds better. Has a sort of Gothic Country/Americana feel to it. Yeah this is much more to my taste.
3. Gravedweller: Sort of a punk feel to this one. Meh.
4. Fragile male for sale: And this one is kind of metal, but again meh. Not feeling it here at all.
5. Burn out the bruise: Metal meets punk? I don't really care.
6. Wire frame mattress: Okay, something a bit different. Acoustic guitar at least interests me. Changed halfway into a sort of surf rock vein, picked up speed. This is not bad.
7. Beehive queen: This is terrible though. There's very little I can find to say positive about this album.
8. Weights and ties: Ok, this is a really nice blues ballad. About time.
9. Part time model: This has a nice sparse feel to it. Very jangly, slow, kind of melancholy. Builds nicely. Like this one.
10. Summer again: Another bluesy ballad? Seems like this album may end up finishing strongly if it's not careful.
11. Robe for Juda: AH, but here's a return to the poor performance of the first half of the album. Kind of a mix of doom and gothic metal elements, neither of which really work.
12. Crying clown: This isn't too bad though. Not quite up to the quality of tracks 8, 9 and 10 though.
13. Track 13: And a nice acoustic ballad to close.

End result: Well this album was certainly an exercise in perseverance. It was so bad initially that I was considering stopping halfway, but then it began to pick up and while I wouldn't say I loved it it certainly got a lot better and I wasn't struggling to the end. You can see by the ratings of the tracks the progression (more or less) from don't-care to hate to cautious like and then some loves too. Quite an experience.

So, Love or Hate? I couldn't really say I love it, despite the few good tracks, but I'll give it a decent Like, which is not anywhere near what I thought I would be awarding it earlier.
