Also I definitely am aware of the fact that not everyone will like the same types of music I do. My comment was meant to get across that I don't have an outlet to discuss all the types of music I like.
Welcome to MB! I hope you're having fun here discussing music with others who love some of the same music you do.

I also didn't know many people in my 3D life who felt as interested in a wider range of music or music-related issues as I was, so this online community has helped fill that gap.

About assimilating: I feel there is a niche here for all sorts of people, so anyone who wants to join because of a love for music is sure to find some like-minded people. Since you can pick and choose the people to whom you respond, you can find those with whom you feel comfortable and shape your experience of the site.

There *are* some members who seem to thrive on putting others down just for the sake of being mean, but they are easy to spot and ignore, if you want to.

I feel that most people at MB are genuinely welcoming and are here because of a love of music and the appreciation of others who feel the same. I've met some of the most supportive, thoughtful, well-intentioned people in my life here.

I hope you will feel comfortable here and will enjoy the site!
