I really can't see how they are any more uninspired than 95% of traditional death metal bands, cause let's be honest, those bands are no more original than Despised Icon. Yeah, they make heavy use of breakdowns, but they don't build their songs around them in the way that Emmure did (and breakdowns are ****ing awesome when used tastefully), and they have no shortage of fun and brutal riffs, which is one of the complaints leveled at many of these bands. They also had two of the most entertaining vocalists in DM history, which is one of the greatest pitfalls of deathcore, no matter how good the band.

Tell me these songs aren't any less fun, brutal, and just plain awesome than any of those bands they are unfairly compared against...

As far as I'm concerned, Despised Icon are quite possibly the most unfairly maligned deathcore band in history, and I would take them over The Red Chord any day of the week.
Me to. Red Chord sucks! Despised Icon were probably my favourite deathcore band next to Suicide Silence (The only other DC band worth a squirt) Canadian to.

Some of the former members of Despised Icon are now in a straight up hardcore band known as Obey the Brave (Beatdown hardcore sound, like Terror & Hatebreed)
