We should bring out a list of nominees, gather from as many people as possible 'til we have at least a consensus of a respectable top 50 list and THEN start ranking them. Let the list be an evolution that can have an artist's rank change based on emerging discussion from the contributors???

If you can find people to participate I'd gladly join in. We can't even keep the alphabet thread active for more than a couple days. Then I or William bump it, get a few responses, and it dies out again.
