To me it feels like the industry standard itself has gotten way more greedy and they found a way to justify that greed to the consumers to the point we expect it now.

I remember having to pay 60$ for pokemon stadium back in the day, and thats after having to buy a f-ing graphics chip so i could get 3d graphics on my n64, and a memory card.
That was also back in the day when I'd rent games from hollywood video and never return them
