First impressions are important...
I always thought prog covers like this were a little pretentious and disorganized. Too many obscured details...
Hipgnosis' covers on the other hand, were always top notch. Simple and to the point.
I can't speak for the music as I still have yet to experience a full Coheed and Cambria album.
