My problem is that...
A.) My main experience with the game is a dumbed-down port for the 360, so I have a tendency to not plan out my tech strategy, and just kind of go with the stuff that'll take the least amount of time.
B.) Since I only know how to play the stripped-down version, I'm not adept at micro-managing my cities and infrastructure. So, while I just took half the Persian empire in three turns, thereby doubling the size of my own, my capital city is starving... even though it's otherwise the best city on the map. My other cities are fine, though. Even the underdeveloped Persian conquests are coming along. But Batlordopolis is in a state of crisis.
