That could also be used to determine what's best, since deciding what criteria makes something the best is subjective as well. That factor could be an emotional response, and whether it's directly brought on by the song or through it's associations (which i don't think that most people are conscious of differentiating), it still has a similar effect. I don't think that personal connection should invalidate what someone considers to be best.
