MAGNIFICENT! A triumph before 9 in the morning!
My Ubuntu PC had been idling at 95% CPU usage across all 4 cores for weeks, rendering system performance painfully slow (and at times completely non-responsive).
I'd originally feared the issue was a perhaps an unfortunate side-effect of the 25ft cables I'd used to run my input devices and monitor to the server in my basement.
Discontent with the situation, I Googled a solution and in less than 10 minutes, I'd cut my CPU usage from 95% to a mere EIGHT percent!
The culprit was the Unity Dash process indexing my hundreds of thousands of media files, which I had no need to access via Unity at all. Now my system is FLYING like brand new. Not bad for 9AM on a Saturday morning!
Happy weekend, everyone!
EDIT: Also did my taxes for the first time as a homeowner this AM. It's a good day.
