I think that might be why I like it so much. Given that Coltrane was dying from liver cancer at the time of the recording, his rushed (or stressful) and very raw approach to improvisation captures his soul when faced with death, although I don't know if he knew of his disease at the time of his death. Rashied Ali is also very badass, of course.
