You know, you're right Batty. It's daft to rationalize that, if I read enough academic lit, that somehow I might develop a tolerance, or even respect, for idiots with ****ty taste in music.
I don't need to justify it artistically. It's vapid, commercial garbage, supersaturating the airwaves and designed to sell widgets. It is in no way a valid art form.
