As someone else said, I don't think trip-hop borrows much from hip-hop, which confused me in the beginning because with that name you would expect it to.

Trip-hop is heavily influenced by hip-hop, since it relies on similar electronic/sampled, usually darker, more minimalistic and slower beats.
