Some of Buckethead's latest music is slower and melodic like you mention.....here are a couple examples that show melody you probably wouldn't have expected from him. Please give each of them a listen and you'll hopefully see that he's not just an uninspired shredder as you might have thought.

I definitely agree....'greatest' is such a broad term. Not really useful in describing such an incredibly subjective thing as musical taste. Hope you take the time to check out the songs above though!
