This song feels like the ultimate stereotype of 90s death metal. The vocals are so cookie monster that you can't help but laugh, and the music is totally generic for American DM of its time. But it all works to such a degree that no matter how cliched it might be, "Hammer Smashed Face" is still brutal as all ****, and Cannibal Corpse have a personality that transcends their musical limitations.
Of course, The Bleeding would be even more of a 90s DM stereotype, but that album was so catchy that who gives a flying ****?
