Yeah even with doctors and all of the necessary safety precautions I don't think I'd ever do it. But compared to some of the other 8k mountains it's reasonably safe.
K2 is regarded as the more extreme climb. 1 in 4 people who attempt it die and nobody has ever climbed it during winter.
