Well considering my degree is in history, I entirely accept it, because they are backed by primary source documents.
I do think that academic disciplines like sociology, and political science are of less value to society than the hard sciences of physics and chemistry though, and more open to be abused for someone's political gain.
I actually have a honor's degree in history, but when people comment that I must be really smart, I laugh in their face. Any pointdexter can get an A in history or sociology if they read enough. It takes real brain power to be a top biochemist.
