All we know about him is what 40 different individuals wrote down over a 1,500 year span, each adding their own edits to what was written before them, and then how the ancient text was interpreted centuries later when the Catholic Church translated the books over a seven year span in the early 1600s.
Sounds like a pretty definitive work to me.
Let me ask you a question. Are you a selective Christian? Do you believe every single aspect of the Bible or do you discard a few things here and there as exaggeration or hyperbole?
Do you believe in Adam and Eve?
The parting of the Red Sea?
A talking burning bush?
The great flood?
Lot's wife being turned into a pillar of salt?
Moses' staff transforming into a snake?
