It was my first as well, (but only because I saw its premiere as Aranofsky's debut).
Clint Mansell has produced many marvelous scores after Pop Will Eat Itself disbanded, Pi being his first. I also have the Moon soundtrack on vinyl which is equally enjoyable.
I picked up so much more from the film finally viewing it as an adult, and I instantly recalled Clarke's 9 Billion Names (1953) as following a very similar plot.
Over 60 years later it's still a marvelous story.
