Nah, you don't let the invader murder your family. You can attempt to injury the invader and call the cops while you and your family flee and hope you make it out alive. Or you can shoot the invader dead and do jail time. Your choice.

The cops are supposed to protect law abiding citizens but look how well some of them do their job.
