This might come as a surprise seeing as how I've pretty clearly asserted myself as pretty far left, but I don't think that gun control is the solution. It's surface level rhetoric that fails to look at the root cause and instead focuses on on the most obvious, but probably least effective, solution. I mean, idk, I'm not sure how it's different than people who want to ban violent video games or Tipper Gore types.
Naw, instead of blaming the communities being victimised, we need to look at issues within the police system that perputrate this sort of behavoir and factors external to that which cause minorites to become disenfranchised. If we ban guns, the cops will keep brutalizing whoever, and people will start bombing **** and whatever. I don't think that guns are the only way to inflict that sort of mass violence, and I don't think doing away with them will solve the problem.
