Another set of unpopular opinions I hold:
The best Miles is fusion Miles (okay, maybe that part isn't so unpopular), and the best fusion Miles begins with The Man with the Horn and runs through Doo-Bop.
Star People is the best Miles album.
After that, I'd rank his Gil Evans collaborations second. Then the rest of his 60s output in general.
After that, I'd rank his other fusion albums, the other 70s albums basically, but Bitches Brew would be at the bottom of those.
I do like 50s and earlier Miles, too, but I prefer pretty much every other album listed above, except perhaps for Bitches Brew. Unlike with most other artists, my Miles album ranking would more or less list every album in each of the categories above before moving to the next category.
Which means that the two most beloved Miles albums, Kind of Blue and Bitches Brew, are both pretty far down my list, below albums like Aura, You're Under Arrest, Big Fun and Water Babies.
