No you wouldn't be confused by the movie. There is enough of them explaining **** over and over again as to NOT confuse people. The whole "for the fans" bit only comes from the fans knowing more details about certain scenes because they know the lore. They couldn't fit every single detail from the lore into the movie. It would have been a five hour long movie.
