I'm kind of a huge fan of the Dead. I've been a huge fan for over 40 years, and I say there's nothing
not prog about them. Country is one of the main genres they merged with rock in their progginess--that's one of the primary aspects of progressive rock, melding characteristics of other genres with rock.
