Watchmen .. I could write pages about it, it is imo the best movie of 2009 (and the competition was pretty stiff). Thing is, it's so specific you'll either love it or you'll hate it. It's not a "one size fits all" universal story that "everyone can enjoy". It has a unique style and approach to many topics, things that "mainsteram" superhero genre movies like the x men or avengers are just starting to explore - accountability, consequences of your actions, mixing real historical events and figures with fantasy.
