The Batlord's 4th List of the Top Ten Most Badass Metal Songs of All Time

Oh yeah, I was doing this a while ago. Seems an easy thing to do so why not?

1. Nails - Unsilent Death

Yeah yeah not metal who cares **** you. The riff is so awesome and heavy that anyone who cares about genre distinctions is probably hiding in their own butthole. So **** them cause this song is the epitome of badass.

2. Rammstein - Rammstein

Plenty of Rammstein's music is okay, decent, lame, or even ****ty. This is not one of those songs. This is a riff monster that levels playing fields (as in baseball fields that cease to exist once this song opens up sinkholes to hell). It's slow and heavy as **** like doom metal, but Till Lindeman's spoken word vocals add an air of menace that a more traditional singer would have missed by a mile. **** yeah, this song!

3. Mötley Crüe - Knock 'Em Dead, Kid

One thing people seem to forget is that Mick Mars is a riff master of moderate proportions, and this song is his riff masterpiece. This song is just ****ing heavy, and even Vince Neil manages to sound like a rabid badass. If you don't like this then I don't care how much black metal you listen to. You're a ****ing vagina.

4. Carcass - Embodiment

This song is the ultimate proof that mid-paced heaviness is usually more badass than actual brutality. They might have upped the melody with Heartwork and left behind the grind, but at least on this song they showed that a bitchin' riff is all that counts. I am currently punching your most beloved family member/pet in the face while listening to this song.

5. Zao - Ravage Ritual

Not enough metalcore on these lists. One caveat for this song I have is that the last third of this song doesn't live up to the rest. If this song had used the climactic breakdown as a chorus and used it twice this song would be twice as badass and possibly be the most badass metal song of all-time.

But even so the buildup to and culmination of that breakdown is simply ****ing immense. Even Christians can be badass.

6. Smashing Pumpkins - Zero

**** you this is a metal song. I don't give a **** about most of the rest of this band's discography, but "Zero" has got one of the most awesome riffs ever, and it just sits on that riff for all two-minutes-and-forty seconds of its flawless runtime. No matter how much I kind of sort of hate Smashing Pumpkins this will always make my head bang of its own accord.

7. Unbroken - End of a Lifetime

More metalcore. God damn is this **** heavy. Aside from the crushing riffs and cluster bomb last third, this band, album, and song benefit from a supremely heavy and abrasive production that, combined with the misanthropic vocals, makes for one of the most people-hating experiences you're likely to ever hear.

8. Stampin' Ground - Officer Nice

One more metalcore track cause metalcore is one of the most badass forms of music ever created. This is more in the vein of Unbroken and Earth Crisis, which is to say that it has a massive Pantera influence in the groove-tastic riffs to go along with the ultra-heavy, meathead breakdowns. Cap it all off with some vicious vocals and you've got a badass metal track of supreme proportions.

9. Brutal Truth - Birth of Ignorance

Brutal Truth have perhaps a bit too much class for a raw grind band, but they more than make up for it with monstrous riffs (and later with weirdo experimentation). There's a reason this was the lead track off their first album, and that is because the sludge riffs combine perfectly with the grind sections, and those feral screams from *the vocal dude* are some of the best ever devised. I could listen to this song for days, though the murder count in my area would probably skyrocket as a result. So I refrain.

10. Acid Bath - Dr. Seuss Is Dead

Best version of the song on Youtube

It's wrong that this is the first time I've posted an Acid Bath song. But it's hard to pic a badass fav. But let's just go with this one cause it's immensely badass while also showing off the band's songwriting ability. It goes from misanthropic slowness to misanthropic heaviness in such a way that all other bands are tempted to kill themselves. That describes a lot of Acid Bath's awesome ****, but I feel no need to go any further, cause Acid Bath speak for themselves and that is still an awesome video.
