Ok so, based on enthusiastic recommendations I've listened to a bit of A Moon Shaped Pool by Radiohead. I was even told that track 4 (Desert Island Disk) was the best thing ever!
Now, I haven't spent much time at all with the new album and I know that I'm not being entirely fair, but based on my reactions so far and based on my familiarity with the band's past output, I simply have to ask: What's the deal with this band anyway?
I'm not going to say that Radiohead is crap, just that I don't really see the genius. They've got a unique sound, but I'm not getting much out of the fairly minimal and repetitive arrangements. At least track 5 - Full Stop - was pretty cool, but also guilty of what I just said. The best track ever did less for me.
Either I still just don't get it, or Radiohead isn't all they're made out to be. How could one person be wrong? It must be everyone else.
