I think I'll stick to calling a spade a spade.

I'm not using boring to mean slow or sparse or minimal, I'm using boring in the sense that the music feels so overdone and pointless that it bores me. I've heard the penatonic scale, Satriani has nothing to offer me. This means that even something upbeat or fast can bore me.
