If you have the money to find a decent analog 8 track, I would record it onto that so you get the warmth of that sound and then dump it into pro tools for editing. You don't want to be editing in analog, splicing is a pain in the a$$.

I'm not sure how much bass your going to lose going digital, but your going to have to do it anyway if you want to convert your songs to mp3's.
