Right... but if we see a trend then we know for some kids it increases the chance of them developing a disorder. The kids will likely already have a "neurotic" personality type according to the big 5 personality assement, but that is not a disorder, that's just a personality trait. To evolve into a disorder it helps to have an unstable, unsafe environment (and getting spanked would contribute to that, among other factors).
