Time for Tepeu by Q'uq'umatz

Creation: A little over 3 minute build up of what feels like an ambient style mixed with western sound effects that really sets the tone for what I imagine the rest of the album will sound like. I really like how you included an opener for an album as opposed to just going all out from the get go. Looking forward to seeing what the rest of the album has in store. 8/10

Only the Sky Existed: God damn it, 15 minutes? Well, I guess i'll be here a little while. Luckily, I'm waiting for my laundry to get done, so I have time to sit and listen. The track starts off like a traditional stoner / doom rock track would, with some added filler here and there. The additional sound effects of birds chirping etc really works for this in some ways. As the track progresses, it starts to fade and grow heavier simultaneously if that makes sense. You start to feel the track pick up and hopefully turns into something. Really picks up with some distorted riffs around the 2 minute mark and continues to do so along with the existing effects from the beginning of the track. Then a bit after 2 minutes, the track completely changes into something else time and time again. Hardly gives enough time to enjoy the good parts of the track when the track changes constantly. Not sure how I feel about that effect. At the 3 minute mark, it changes again with some heavily distorted drums and what sounds like screaming vocals then proceeds forward with that effect for about the next minute or so. It's certainly not bad, just interesting. Then turns back into some deeper distorted guitar riffs. That continues past the 4 minute mark, let's see where this goes from here. A little bit past the 4 minute mark, the distortion is gone and we're given some electronic style riffs with the drums in the background. Nice effect. Much easier to hear everything together when it's not super distorted. Onto the 5 minute mark, it continues with the same effect as was the 4 minute mark with little to no change, which is nice. Gives the good parts to grow instead of taking it away right away. At around the 5:30 mark, it gets really groovy and a little funky with some fantastic drum fills and deep guitar riffs that compliment the track really well. Certainly worth the 5 minute wait to get to this point, certainly. This continues through the 6 minute mark and then we're met with some familiar effects previously shown in the track with the distortion, then constant changes. This time it works somehow. Goes back to some of that electronica style around the 7 minute mark, with nothing else in the background until the drums pick up again. I really like that build up. It was well done and didn't feel too forced. Then halfway into the 7 minutes, we're met with distortion again. Sudden change into a pretty familiar stoner riff, which is then met with some slowed down rif***e. And of course, the rest of the tracks follows closely behind while complimenting the track as nice as it can. Seriously though, this track didn't need to be 15 minutes. It could have been done really well as a 5 or 6 minute track as I feel you just merged together a bunch of different tracks together in order to make it this long. 7/10. Points knocked off for unnecessarily long track.

Ik Kil Cenote: A 3 minute track with thankfully gives us a bit of a rest from the monstrosity that came before it. This track is interesting, sounds like some things merged together again, but I suppose it's done really well. Some organ style piano thrown in here which is nice. Gets crazy toward the middle and the end of the track, but it's still a nice change from the rest of the album. 8/10

Bloodletting Ceremony: Yes, I'm skipping the next two long tracks, because I personally don't have the patience to listen to over a half hour of what those tracks have to offer, but this track is definitely nice. Some groovy bits here and there that fits into the 2 minute length quite nicely. 7/10

So, again, I reiterate that I skipped the other 2 long tracks because honestly, I can't imagine those tracks are much different than the rest of the album, and I just don't have the patience to sit for a half hour and listen to it all. If i'm wrong, well so be it. For now, I mimic what blank said about them because I trust his judgement. As far as rating the album goes, I give it a 7.5/10. This is nowhere near your best work, but it's something different and that shows throughout.
