There's more than one way to skin a cat. You have to do research to see what would work better for you. Like if just a midi (midi-keyboard or launch pad) and software will do everything you need to do in your bedroom with your computer. Or whether you want hardware equipment like a synthesizer, keyboard or groovebox something hands-on you can play with in the creative process or use when you play live.
