Like any site or news outlet (or lack thereof), they have the right to do whatever they want. The only thing that would hurt the cause is figuring out if it were true or not. But that doesn't mean it won't cause people to be skeptical.
Not only that, but the source has been said to be a reliable one, so we'll see.
